Reflections on Digital Life

Facebook Follies 

On Monday we watched a documentary on "Facebook Follies." Some things that were in this documentary was. One time a girl made an event for her birthday party on Facebook. She ended up forgetting to make the event private. So about 1000 people seen the event and showed up at her house. I think this was just a misunderstanding and I don't blame her for taking off to her aunts house.Also a lot of people post bad and inappropriate post on Facebook and other social media. Even if you made those post 10, 15 or only 2 years ago they follow you throughout your whole life. This stuff mainly reflects on job interviews. Even if you were to delete a post off Facebook or any website somebody in this world still has it saved. Think before you post. Also watch what you are doing in public because literally anyone can snap a picture of you and post it on social media. Everyone gives out way too much personal information on Facebook. You could at  least give out fake information or not your full name because hackers can easily use that information to make a fake ID to make money. Or there is the option to just not get Facebook at all. Most trouble and crime is caused by Facebook. You give out so much information on Facebook that anyone can find relatives they may not even know they had.

Digital Life Quiz 

This quiz was very difficult to answer and some of the answers were quite surprising. One answer that surprised me was number 13 how 85 percent of guardians talk to there children about being safe and smart online, because my mom barely ever talks to me about being smart and safe online. The question about how teens sleep with there phones or iPods next to them in bed at night reflects me the most. I always sleep with my phone next to me. Then the question that says one third of kids sends 100 texts a day does not reflect me at all because I barely text mostly just snapchat. T hese stats don't compare too good to how I use digital media because I answered how the questions apply to me and i only got about 3 right, The social media I probably use most would be Snapchat  on my phone. Because you get to send pictures instead of just words. I probably use twitter the least because I'd rather not go through girls tweets of the complaining about there love life. On how I use these sites, I use my phone because it is the most convenient.

The Digital World 
There are plenty of upsides of living in a digital life, but there is some downsides too. An upside for relationships with others is that you can stay connected with them very easily. You can message them and they will get it instantly within seconds A downside is that a lot of times people would rather talk on the internet instead of face to face. An upside for society is that you can get information around quickly although that could be a downside too because people could be spreading rumours and bullying people through the internet. You might not want something about you spread all over the internet. I connect with others using different sites and apps. It makes things a lot more convenient. I usually don't create things on digital media though. I have before though.

Digital Dummies?

• a guy made a facebook status in the middle of his own wedding, I think that  is quite rude. 
• cellphones increase levels of stress.
• damaging relationships in workplaces.
• people always have there heads stuck in their phones and don't even realize whats going on around them.
• a lot of emergencies and accidents are caused by people texting.
• over 10% of drivers on the road are texting.

Inside the Dark Web

• as soon as you type something into the search bar companies take your cereal number and watch you surf the web.
• You can be tracked by your wifi signal. 
• if your talking to somebody on chat online people can watch your conversation and maybe your telling someone where you are located and the person viewing your conversation could track youi down. 
• Old posts on social media can come back to haunt you in the future.
• David found a way to solve the problem because if you would install something then  yhey wouldnt be able to track you and figure out who you are because your not using google or safari. 

Technology presentation 

• kids ages 7-8 use pretty much the same amount of technology us teenagers use.
• Don't give your passwords out to anyone because anyone can go on your account and post and say very bad inappropriate things. and give yourself a bad reputation 
• When you check in and use your location services your giving strangers an idea of where you are and they can go after you.
• Cyber bullying is a against the law and you or your parents can be charged.
• You are responsible for what you send and post. Think before you posts.

Privacy on the Internet 

• I think that this little comic is a good example about internet privacy and it is very true.
• It is very important to have your privacy settings locked because you probably don't want some stranger looking at everything about you and what you post.
• You probably don't need to update your status every hour about where you are and what you are doing because nobody really cares besides hackers.
• You need or should have to have different passwords for different sites because if someone finds out one password then they can get on to all of your accounts and find all your information.
• You really should have a hard password on your mobile devices that nobody would guess because they can leak all your stuff including text messages, photos, and etc. 

Everyday Privacy 

 This article confirmed that when you check in someplace, anywhere can see where you are. Then later on you get personalized marketing recommendations. It also confirmed that you can enter a code to block your display when calling someone. I thought that was a thing but wasn't sure. Something in this article that surprised me was how your geo-location device records your vehicles location at all times.

Cyber Bullying 

Some different roles people play in cyber bullying situations are the target. The target is the person being bullied. Then there is the  offender. The offender is who is the bully.  There is also the bystanders which witness the situation and up standers who stand up for a person in the situation. Online bullying can escalate when more people get involved and threats start being made. It is important to be an up stander because bullying is bad and hurtful. You can deescalate the situation by becoming an up stander. The target or up stander can tell an adult or someone they can trust. Bullying is very bad and you could really hurt someone and bad things could happen like suicide. 

Journal Entry 5

This week in class we have been creating games using Sploder. The type of game I created was Retro Arcade. I had 2 levels. There was 4 stages in the first level and 3 in the second. The easiest aspects when creating my game would be just simply placing things where you want them to go. Some difficulties I ran into was I had a glitch in my first stage and it would not let me move on to the next stage. I ended up having to delete that stage. Some confusion I had was deleting a level or stage and deleting something you placed by a mistake. I didn't really have time to help any other students with their games mainly because I was confused about my own and needed to get it done in time. I really liked using Sploder it was pretty much my favorite thing we did so far in bbt. The part I liked the best was the different things you could use to make your game such as the mushrooms, waterfalls, waterspouts, blocks, etc. There wasn't really anything I did not like about this activity. I'm not necessarily a gamer so I would probably consider myself a casual gamer. I don't play many games but I like to play minecraft on my phone when I am bored. I mainly play games on my cellphone when I do play them. I enjoyed using Sploder and I think I did quite good on my game.

Journal Entry 4

The video on technology that I chose to use in my google slides presentation was about the new invention that comes out in 2017 the Hoverbike. I selected this video because i thought it was interesting the way it works. I always wanted to be able to fly instead of walking. With this invention you can fly. I would totally buy this invention when it came out if it wasn't so expensive. It is $85,000, that is a lot of money. I didn't mind using google slides. It is just kind of hard to get use to. I would rather use smart notebook or something but that is just because I am use to it. But i didn't have any difficulties using it.  I thought it was easy and cool to be able to share the presentation online. I liked this because it was an easier way to share your work with other people.  The template I chose was called "spotlight." I chose this because i liked the design and the way it was displayed. I liked using google slides but i probably wouldn't use it again.

Web 2.0

The three videos we watched were all about how the web works and cloud computing. The first video we watched explained how cloud computing and delivery businesses are quite similar. The good thing about cloud computing is that  you only pay for what you use. Everything is saved and secured at at least one other location.Cloud computing companies have pretty much unlimited storage, so luckily it doesn't limit you. The second video explained how cloud computing works. Just by uploading a picture to the internet you are cloud computing. You can the see that one picture wherever you want, at home at work anywhere. This computer lives in a giant secret warehouse full of computers. The picture could be in any warehouse at any location. The third video was called web 2.0. It explained how HTML was designed to define the structure of a web document. When we post and tag pictures we are teaching the machine. Coding is pretty much just telling the computer what to do. You don't need to know complicated code to upload content to the web. 

Journal Entry 2

This week our class got in groups of 3 or 4 and took pictures using the different camera techniques. We had watched videos giving examples and talking about the different camera techniques so we knew what we were doing. Anyways after we got all of our pictures we had to go on our own and create a video using Animoto. In this video we put all of our different pictures together and labeled them. Using Animoto was quite interesting and it was quite easy to use, I would reccomend Animoto to other people. I really liked doing this project and I would like to do another one like it.

Journal Entry 3

Our group did our photo story on a replay of when I broke my foot during my soccer game. Our main accomplishments were getting all the correct photos we needed, putting our video together without having problems. Our biggest challenges were finding a good day to go outside to take the pictures because it was raining the first day so we did't get all our pictures done because we would've got all wet. Another big challenge was finding a song to go with our video. We didn't really run into any technical problems. Breakdown of work responsibilities were, Mackenzie and I did the editing, and Morgan and Jayden took the pictures. Mackenzie and I also were characters in the video. Our group did a very successful job on our project and finished it on time. What i found interesting was being able to put the pictures together just like it was one whole video. I really liked this project and i enjoyed working with my group.

Camera Techniques; Framing, Fill in the Frame, Rule of Thirds, Level Horizon, and Point of View

The five techniques discussed in the videos we watched in class were, Rule of Thirds, Fill  the Frame, Framing, Point of View, and Level Horizon

Rule of Thirds:

• I think this camera technique is important because it makes picture more eye catching.
• Dividing your image into thirds, comparing to the middle.

Fill the Frame:

• Zooming in a photo to give it more life and detail.
• Taking a picture too far away can be a distraction. (action) 

Framing:

• Surrounding your main object with something else.
• Detail going on in the background.

Point Of View:

• Move aroundto give a fresh look.
• Looking at a photo at different point of views.

Level Horizon

• Good for landscaping.
• Hold the camera level
• Function button to make the picture level

Journal entry 1

Some of the first activities we did were creating Google accounts, Computer policy with role play, and Troubleshooting computers. Some of the main accomplishments we had were creating Google accounts, and a Blog page. A lot of people had troubles creating google accounts, luckily i did not. Some others had already had google accounts that they could use. Other problems we encountered were, some computers would not connect to the internet and some would not install chrome. But a good amount of the class was successful with making theirs.
