Photo Editing- Final Challenge

Be True to your School

I think the eagle and the text on the bus is very effective because it shows lots of school spirit and pride to our school. You can tell when looking at this bus that they're supporting Blackville school. The design represents our school because there is a picture of a golden eagle which is our schools mascot. The most challenging part was placing the text on the bus and the easiest part was choosing what the design of the bus was going to be. I guess I sort of have interest in digital art because I think it's cool how you can create almost anything using photo shop. I don't think I would want to work in auto detailing as a job or part of a job because I don't think I would be that good at it.

Before the War

I selected this photo of the old man because I thought it would be easier to fix up than the other photo. The most challenging part was getting the man to look realistic and not airbrushed. The easiest part was fixing the background of the picture. I have never retouched/restored a picture before so it was a tough challenge. No I don't think I would ever want to retouch/restore photos as a job because I probably wouldn't be that good at is plus it takes a lot of time to make it perfect.

Freak of Nature

The animals I selected were a fox and an orange cat. I selected these images because they're similar in color so it would look more natural when I combined them together. The most challenging part was to match them together to make it look real and the easiest part was choosing what animals to use.I think my creation is pretty realistic, I named it "Foxy Cat." I have used this editing site before with my friend for a project once.

Automobile Body Styles and Designs

Automobile Body Styles

• SUV- SUV's have existed since the 1930's but experienced explosive popularity >during the mid 1990's. The SUV or Sports Utility Vehicle is a type of body style that is built on a truck frame, and kind of like the an Estate, but is bigger and higher up. They were originally built because there were a lot of people that needed a 4-wheel drive vehicle. They are designed for off and on-road work. An example of an SUV is an Audi Q7. • Convertible- A convertible, also known as a cabriolet, is a type of body style with a retractable roof. They are usually best for people to buy if they live in areas with warmer weather. Some of the convertibles are affordable, but usually they are luxury cars. An example of a convertible as an Audi A5 convertible Premium Plus 4 cyl. (Picture found here and information found here)

• Coupe- The is normally thought of as a sporty type of vehicle. They are similar to the saloon, but with only 2 doors instead of 4, however there are some manufacturers who still make them with 4 doors. It is reasonably comfortable for seating in the front, but the back seat space is limited, so it's not good for families. (Picture found here and information found here)

• Van- For individuals or businesses that require a vehicle with a single large enclosed area, a van could be a leading choice for drivers. Capable of securely holding a large amount of passengers, vans are significantly styled for practicality rather than other factors such as performance. From the 1930s to the 1980s, vans were almost entirely based on truck-like chassis structures. Vans built on truck-like frames such as the Chevrolet Express prove most useful for commercial entities that require toughness and durability. If equipped for passenger, large vans can seat up to 15 occupants. Popularizing car-based construction. Van's are good for people with big families. (Picture from here  and information found here 

• Sedan- A sedan, also known as a saloon, is one of the most popular body types of cars today. It can seat a least 4 people and a separate trunk (boot) for storage. An example of a sedan is a Honda Accord. (Picture from here and information from here)

Automobile Design

• It usually takes about 3 years to design a car, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. They usually start off with the sketching phase, which is just them drawing a bunch of different pictures of the car. 
• Design is called problem solving because the people have fine arts degrees, but what they are doing isn't fine arts. They have criteria that they need to meet and draw their design based on it. It is essentially solving a problem.
•  The feasibility stage is when the workers need to put the sketches on a "package" and match them up with something that maintains the theme, but fits over top of the engineering. This is the biggest stage. 
• I think that designing an automobile would interest me more than the other jobs in the automotive industry, such as automotive technicians, but I don't really think that would be my number one future job choice. I will probably like driving, but other than that I won't care how my car is made and will probably not be interested in how they're made.

Careers and Certification in the Automotive Industry

Part One (Article)

1.  Some of the high-tech systems on automobiles today that were unheard of 30 years ago are stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control, and variable valve timing.
2. Young people should have technical skills, and also skills in math, science, and communications.
3. Some advantages of obtaining an education as an automotive technician versus other high-tech educational options are are; automotive technicians can begin their career after just two years of education, which allows students to get out in the real world sooner, with less debt.
4. There are expected to be 237 500 jobs as automotive technicians and there is predicted to be a 30 percent growth rate through 2020.
5. The automotive technician career is fairly immune to outsourcing of jobs (the services all moving overseas), unlike careers such as computer programming, accounting services, and customer call center work.
6. Four positions that an automotive technician can hold in the industry are; with schools and colleges as a instructor, work in the technical services, high performance rebuilding and machining, and work in parts distribution and wholesaling. 
7.  The automotive technician role is sometimes called the "portal career" because so many people have started their career in the automotive aftermarket as an automotive technician.

•  I like doing math, so I believe that some aspects of being in the automotive industry that I would enjoy are solving the issue for them. I would also enjoy the math that is involved. 
• Something that I found interesting about this video is that there are so many different things that you are expected to be able to do as an automotive technician, such as electrical stuff, plumbing services, etc. Another thing that I found interesting is communication skills because you would often be talking to people in public. 
• Life-long learning is an important aspect of any job, not just automotive technicians. The technology and electronics are always changing, for example our technology that we have at the moment may be considered "ancient" in 5 or 10 years. When speaking specifically about automotive technicians, the technology and electronics are always changing. Everybody has seen it, each year with a new car, there are tons of new technology involved with it, and the technician needs to learn about all the new things quickly to make the changes.
•  Some skills or characteristics that an automotive technician should have are, to communicate with people, Math and Science skills, and the motivation to learn.

Certification in the Automotive Industry

• The NATEF is an organization that was founded to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide at schools. NATEF's primary focus is to examine the structure, resources, and quality of training programs and evaluates them against the standards established by the industry.
•  SGS is an organization that was founded to help every person in the automotive industry improve performance and reduce risk. The primary focus of SGS is on the design, construction, and operation of motor vehicle inspection solutions all over the world. 
• The ASE is an organization that was founded to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals. Their primary focus is to promote excellence in automotive repair and service.

Jobs in the Automotive Industry

•  I think that the job in the automotive industry that I would enjoy the most is the CEO of GM, because I'm good at telling people what to do. This is also a great job because GM is one of the largest companies in the world.
• The job in this industry that I would hate the most is probably a classic car restorer, because I know next to absolutely nothing about classic cars, I do not care about cars, and I also do not like working on cars.

BBT 10: Emerging Technologies and Automobiles

Technologies in Development

•  The technology that I think is the least likely to happen is probably the networked cars. It seems pretty unlikely that these GM EN-V's will be able to be basically like taxis minus the driver, kids and seniors or the elderly will be be able to take these. Even if this does happen, it will likely only be in cities.
•  I think that car to car communication will have the most impact on today's society. This is basically like the cars telling each other where they are going and how fast they are moving at and although it's pretty strange, it will likely prevent a lot of accidents. The cars will know where each other is and if it is safe to pass.
• The technology that is almost a reality is probably the Tesla Supercharge Stations. I think this because they already have some of them around, in places like California and Florida where the people can actually afford to get electric cars. It may be a little unreasonable for rural places like Blackville, because they probably wouldn't have a local "charging station" and a lot of people here couldn't afford the electric cars. 
• Ford's"Driver Workload Estimator", from what I can understand, measures the levels of stress the driver is under in certain situations. This could be safer for people, because some accidents may happen from things occurring on the road. For example, they may be under more stress while passing a car and another car is coming at them, causing them to panic and maybe lose control. This new system helps monitor these stress levels.
• Personally, I think these new flying cars are unnecessary. They are a waste of money because only the rich people would be able to afford them, not any middle class people like us. The time and money put into bridges and road conditions would just be wasted, jobs would be lost and many more things could happen, all because of these stupid flying cars.
• I agree with the people that think these autonomous automobiles are taking the experience of driving away. I don't yet have my driver's license or permit and I won't for a few months, but driving is fun, on open roads anyway. It likely isn't as enjoyable in populated and busy cities or anywhere with a lot of traffic actually. I can see where these people's  ideas are coming from, but these new cars will just take away from the experience of driving.

Tech for the Sake of Tech?

• It didn't surprise me at all that the younger generation, age 21-38, didn't want this technology. They've grown up in the age without smartphones, or if they did have smartphones growing up, they've used them the "old-fashioned way", as the article says. I think the results for this survey towards my generation might be a little more positive, some of us might want these in-car technologies because of all the emphasis put on in-car safety. 
• I think that these technologies only make it more dangerous, because the people would probably be more preoccupied with trying to figure out how the technology works than driving. Or showing the car off to the passenger they have with them. This causes them to look away from the road for longer than they would if they were texting, calling, picking music, etc.
•  For many people that I know, they don't really consider the technology when buying a new car, they more so focus on the durability and the amount of space in the vehicle. They might care about the cruise control options, and some of them may like the in-car calling options, but overall, in-car technology isn't a big concern. 
• When purchasing my own automobile, I think I would look for the in-car cell phone connectivity options. These are important, because some of them, you can do everything via Siri or voice control, or on a touch screen in the car, causing you not to lose as much focus on driving. 
• One new feature that older drivers may have thought was useless is in 1935, when flashing turn signals were invented. They may have thought it unnecessary because they could just communicate by maybe yelling, head nods and hand signals, or something physical, not in the car.

Looking at the History of the Automobile

Carl Benz
1. The automobile has been around for about 120 years.
2. Patent- a government authority or license conferring a right or title for a short period, especially the sole right to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention.
3. The title that Carl Benz uses to describe the automobile is "a vehicle with gas engine". Carl Benz's wife, Bertha and his 2 eldest sons test drive his automobile in August of 1888, without him knowing. The first petrol station is born from this.
4. The "axial pivot steering system" helps with the problem of not being able to steer the front two wheels simultaneously.
5. The new name of the company when the two companies are merged is Mercedes Benz.
6. Something that Benz experienced as a pioneer in technology that many other pioneers will never be able to experience is that he lived to see his dream come true, which was the breakthrough of the automobile.

Henry Ford and Model T
1.The assembly line was suggested by three of Henry's employees. This wasn't just an assembly line that the workers moved down the line, but the idea of one in which the line moved and the workers stayed in place, with the task that he/she was good at popping into sight.
2.Workers tended to be more committed to Ford's company than other companies at the time because he wanted his employees to be fairly treated in terms of their wage, he gave them a better of more liveable wage.
3.The cost of the first Model T was a little over $1000, with the cost dropping to $800 soon after. The Model T was made for the common man, unlike most cars at the time.
4.After nearly 100 000 Model Ts were made, the price then dropped to a little over $365. It probably dropped so quickly because even $800 at the time was probably still a ton of money for people to pay back in the old days.
5.As the Model T was becoming the main mode of transportation, it began to offer people the choice of when and where to work, and the opportunity to travel for pleasure and to visit relatives and friends without relying on railroads. The car was also considered the "ticket to your personal freedom."

1. The Invention of the Automobile

•  The early automobiles used the steam engine as their main source of power. They were slow, cumbersome, and uncomfortable for people sitting near the engine. 
• French inventor Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot is credited with the invention of the first automobile. 
• Cugnot's first automobile had a top speed of 2mph and was financed by the French government.

2. The Rise of Henry Ford

• Henry Ford came from an agricultural background, but he hated it. 
• Henry Ford didn't invent the internal combustion engine, he read articles about it and developed his own version of it. 
• In 1903, Ford created the Ford Motor Company was formed with the help of investors. 
• His car was priced at $800, compared to the average $1500 of other cars.

Automobile Timeline 

• 1908- Model T is introduced. Henry Ford starts making the Model T. This is interesting because it's really cool that they made that many cars, 10 660 cars in the first year of production. 
• 1913- First moving assembly line for automobiles developed. This is interesting because as a result of this, the Model T's prices can go lower and become more affordable. 
• 1919- First single foot pedal to operate coupled four-wheel brakes. I find this interesting because before this, drivers had to use separate hand and foot brakes simultaneously. 
• 1939- First air conditioning system added to automobiles. I find this interesting because without this first air conditioner, there wouldn't be much chance of us having air conditioners now, that was our foundation for the modern-day thing.

Journal Entry #8: Digital Law

I found most surprising about this unit, the fact that so much material can actually be copied for teaching needs. Teachers have a lot of access to basically whatever they need without notifying the owner of the material. I just thought that was very interesting and different. I found most of this confusing. The wording just made a lot of the questions hard for me to answer. I didn't really understand what you were looking for as answers, while doing the 17 questions on the copyright and copy-wrong. I think the copyright matters material is a good guide for students when they are unsure about copyright information. I think it has a lot of helpful information that can be easily accessed. It is just whether students would access it or not. The website NeedHelpNow.com is also a very good help for students looking for information on cyber bulling. It has a lot of important information that can help students during a bad situation. It also, has a lot of sources on how to report the cyber bullying incident. I just don't think it is know that well by many people so, it isn't as efficient as it could be. I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to copying is the copying in itself. Copying is so easy to do now with all the technology. Many students just don't have the work ethic or desire to finish assignments on their own. Many students would much rather just take a paper offline and take the risk, rather than spend time doing it themselves. Copying happens a lot now a days and it's a growing issue for young people! I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to cyber bullying is that many people don't report it. It happens so often now a days with the technology we have and many people don't even consider themselves bullying or being bullied. A lot of people don't know where or how to report these cyber bullying issues. If the websites and places to report them got out there more, cyber bullying might be easier to catch and abolish.

Assignment #2: CyberBullying (and Privacy)

1. Two actions that can violate someones privacy are: non-consensual distribution of an intimate image and voyeurism
2. Canada has many other laws, one is "Acts that hurt the reputation of another person", example, impersonation. Another law in Canada is "Acts that make others feel unsafe", example, blackmail.
3. Three examples on how you can report a potential crime are: local police agency, Cybertip.ca and Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868).
4. The section on "Removing pictures/videos" gives you a couple different examples on where to go when needing to remove pictures/videos. It even lists the steps on what to do for removing this media from the certain kind of website. Such as on Facebook, you need to state your age, that you're in the picture, state that you do not like it and want it removed and also let them know if you have sent the picture to anyone else. The section on "Getting emotional support" also has a lot of helpful tips for people that need help in these situations. It has a category for the most helpful people to go to and how to approach them such as: family, friends, safe adults and other services. It gives you helpful tips on how to deal with each type of person and how they might react to the situation.
5. A point from the "Manifesto" video that I liked is how they can actually help you get your life back. They can help improve the situation you're in and get you back in control of your life! I thought it was interesting on how they could solve your problem and were very welcoming to do so.
6. I think one way that I could help support the #ChangeTheStory campaign would be to share the information I know with others. Getting awareness about this campaign out there is good and very helpful. I could easily do so by verbally sharing information with friends or also using the hashtag on my social media posts!

1. Fair Dealings works for the purposes of research, private study, criticism, review, news reporting, education, satire, and parody.
2. Up to 10% of someone work can be copied unfair dealings.
3. It is prohibited to share multiple short experts with the same copyright because you're only allowed 10%
4. Any fee can be charged by the educational institution for communicating or copying a short excerpt from a copyright-protected work must be intended to cover only the costs of the institution, including overhead costs.

Journal Entry #7: Digital Access

What I found most surprising about this unit was that small communities are getting more of an advantage to high-speed internet than very big cities are getting. I found it difficult to think of three positive and negative things for the situations we were given. I think I found it difficult because the positive and negative things I was thinking of were similar to each other. I do think everyone should have fast, reliable internet because it is very frustrating if you don't have it and the companies would get a lot of complaints. No place deserves faster internet. I am never nervous about my privacy online when I share something because I feel like I can trust the internet and I know the thing I am sharing is trust worthy. I think I could prevent my privacy being invaded online by showing as little information about myself as possible. I don't think I will be haunted by anything I post because I am very careful with what I post. What I think is the biggest issue for young people with digital access and privacy is that they will post things they will regret in the future and it could possibly hurt their possibilities for future jobs.

Our medical records should be all digitally stored online for all medical professionals to access within the hospital when needed.
Arguments For: By storing all medical records online, it can speed up the process of getting the patient's information It would clear up space in the hospital that could be used to install new technology or be used for something that is needed If anyone could access the information so easily, it could help save for more lives as other doctors might come across a patients CT and know exactly what is wrong, which the other doctor might not of known Can be very beneficial in emergency situations, especially when the patient can't speak for themselves to say "I'm allergic to penicillin", if the patient name is known the file will immediately come up showing that information
 Arguments Against: Hackers could potentially hack in and steal the information or change it, resulting in bad incomes If the hospital only has all the information on one set of computers, all information could be wiped clean and all would be lost If everyone can access it, that takes away the patient privacy notion as anybody in the hospital can see it even if you don't want a certain doctor to see it, they still would have access People could sneak into the hospital office posing as someone else to access medical records if they find out the password which could easily be passed along by another doctor


Voting should be done 100% online for both provincial and federal elections starting in 2017. Arguments For: This way would save people's time and paper would not be wasted People could vote at any time from anywhere, it would be a great convenience
Arguments Against: Not everybody would have the computer system to vote Hackers could change the voting results


Digital textbooks should replace entirely paper textbooks by 2020 in New Brunswick. Arguments For: Paper would no longer be wasted Damaging the textbooks wouldn't happen, save money by not replacing so often
 Arguments Against: Students wouldn't sleep as well, the light/radiation off of the device effects the brain and sleeping is harder to do if using the textbook right before bed Not every student would have the technology to use these textbooks

Assignment #1: Fast Internet Speeds in Small Towns

1. The speed of an internet connection in a rural community in this article is 100 megabits per second. 2. These rural communities are getting faster internet service than offered by Bell, Shaw, or Rogers because they aren't using those services. Instead, they connect their own high-speed fibre-optic internet cables.
3. The community of Harisston fortunate according to Hope Reidt because the owners are very forward thinking so they're always way ahead of the curve in terms of wanting to provide the best technology available.
4. The community of Olds decided to provide their own fibre-optic networks because they ad very sluggish network and businesses were thinking about leaving the community. The community payed for it by using government grants and loans connecting every house along the way.
5. When Stratford installed its own fibre optic network, it developed a reputation as an IT hub after it installed its own fibre optic loop through the city and blanketed neighborhoods with wifi access points.
6. Bell installed fibre optic in more than a million premises in Atlantic Canada, and also Northern Ontario.
7. Small towns and communities need high speed internet more than ever to keep employers and residents from fleeing to hooked-up cities.
8. The Federal government has supplied three hundred and five million to increase the internet access in Canada.

Journal Entry 6: Digital Buisness

Something I found interesting about this unit is how popular and useful Paypal is. I didn't think people actually used it. Something I found confusing was how Paypal is still up and running even though they only charge a small fee. There must be a lot more users than I thought or secretly are charging more than we think. But it seems like Paypal is a trustworthy source so they probably don't charge you more. I have purchased many things online and I always have had a good experience, everything comes in the way I expected. I just hate the wait. Sometimes it takes so long for things to come in or longer than they are suppose to. I have sold. One tip I think is helpful is that when you buy something off Kijiji you should always give them the money in a public place and not through mail or other ways. I think this is important because the seller might just take your money if you're not careful. Another helpful tip is that banks often charge fees for using a debit card so you should ask for cash back to help pay for future things. online before and it was very successful, we met up and they tried it on and paid us the right amount of money. I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to buying or selling online is using unsafe websites. A lot of teens may see something online and buy it but it could really be a scam. It's the same with selling things online. If you're not careful someone crazy might be buying your stuff. 

Assignment #2 PayPal

Paypal is a service that enables you to pay, send money, and accept payments without revealing your financial details. Paypal keeps you safe when you're shopping at all stores because you don't need to reveal your financial details when you pay so your identity or anything person will be ominous. Paypal makes money by having hidden fees  Paypal protects you from undelivered items by reimbursing you for the full purchase price of the item plus original shipping. If I started a business, I would allow payment using Paypal because I think it is secure and it is a great advantage that you don't need a lot of personal information for.

Assignment #1: Shopping Carts?

I think the 2 biggest reasons people still shop in stores would be because if you shop online it costs shipping and in stores it doesn't and another reason would be because it's easier to return. 2 biggest reasons people shop online would be because there is a larger variety of items online and because some stores are not around their location. If I had the ability to choose to shop online I would because the stores I shop at aren't around where I live so it is easier. I think online shopping will be the only method in 2050 because so many people use it now and there is always better deals online. I think Canada Post focusing on digital shopping is a smart idea because people won't be sending as much letters if they know that they can send an email that is quicker and also a lot faster. This was a great strategy to keep their business alive and successful. One way returning something online could be easier is by making the shipping free for returning it and also make it so there are less things you need to do to give it back. One way returning something online could be easier is by making the shipping free for returning it and also make it so there are less things you need to do to give it back.

Journal #5: Digital Wellness

What I found most surprising when it comes to issues about digital wellness is all the people that aren't healthy because they spend too much time surfing the web.  People allow the internet to control their life and it is making them very physically out of shape. What I found hard about this unit was making the pledges to stay away from the internet so I stay healthy because I am always on the internet. It was hard to think of ways to stop doing the things I do regularly. What I think is the biggest issue with young people and digital fitness is that they are consumed in the internet and they find it very hard to get away so being more healthy might be more difficult for them than it would be for other people.

Assignment #1 Mississippi

1. Seeing this distance in meter sticks, it made me feel like i never want to look away from the road. Even thought it does not seem like a far distance when your think of it just being a second, but it is actually quite long and especially dangerous if someone looked away for more than one second.
2. One way this is effective is because it makes you think about looking away from the road and helps people be more responsible with their actions. One reason it may not change anything because people may think that sort of thing would never happen to them and will not think about it again until it may be too late.
3. Something that would help with the problem of people looking away is a device for the car that will allow you to speak to it and receive calls by talking freely so you don't have to look down at your phone.
 4. If I was in a car with a distracted driver, I think I would tell them because it is important that they are aware of the road because a lot of people could get hurt from just one person looking away from the road and all of the people in the car could die not just the driver.

Journal Entry #4 (Netiquette)

Something I found most surprising when it comes to issues around netiquette would be how you can be so rude without even realizing half the time. No I don't think that most Internet users read or concern themselves with the terms of service/use agreements when joining a site or online service because they want to just hurry up and get on the site or its way too much to read. They should go over the terms of agreement because a lot of things they are agreeing to can affect them in the near future. Considering the different issues this unit looked at about behaving appropriately online, on a scale of 1-10 I would rate my own online behaviour as an 8 because I am not perfect online because I don't read the terms of agreement but I'm never bad or rude online. One thing I can take away from this unit and put in practice to improve my online behaviour would be learn how to take the time to read through the terms of service agreement because I never do and my luck something will happen in the future because I did not read them. I think the biggest issue when it comes to netiquette would be like I said reading the terms. 

Online Discussion Boards (Assignment #3)

The guidelines are similar to how we expect people to act when they're face to face because we expect people to be polite and nice in person just like we do online. Four guidelines that I feel are extremely helpful and necessary when interacting with one other in an online discussion would be, don't type in all caps because it will seem like you are roaring at them and it is rude. Another one would be check the most recent comments before you reply to an older comment, since the issue may have already been resolved or a opinion may be changed. Another one would be don't badmouth others or call them stupid, you may disagree with their ideas but don't mock them. One more would be always say "please" and '"thank you"  when getting help from others. No I haven't made comments on an online discussion board because I've never been in one. No I don't think I would enjoy a course where you can discuss issues online because that isn't really in my interest.

Do As I Say (Assignment #2)

5 facts/reasons that will make me choose the right way in digital society would be:

1. I do not want to go to jail
2. It isn't fair to copy someone else's work
3. I do not want to end up like the people I know that have made mistakes in digital society
4. I do not want to humiliate myself on social media

Online Standards of Service Use: (Assignment #1)

5 companies that use the terms and service agreements or have major conditions before use would be Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, ask.fm and Kijiji. 5 services that teens should look into further or consider further before continuing to sign up would be, if they host your photo, they also own it. This means once you posted a photo on a social media site, an add might appear up of that picture with inappropriate drawings on it. This happens because you agreed to the terms of use of this site. Another service would be, you do not own what you bought. This means you aren't really buying the file, you are just buying a license to it. Another service is, they can turn your device into an expensive brick. This means you agreed that you promise not to mess with the software. Another service would be, Onstar is narcing you out. This means you agreed for OnStar to do what it advertises, it has to include a machine inside your car that tracks your every move. One more service would be itunes knows who you are and what you are doing. This means once you agree, Apple is able to see your precise location. Journal Entry #3 (Digital Rights and Responsibilities)

Something I found most surprising when it comes to digital rights and responsibilities was how doing stuff online is similar to doing stuff in real life just like the 10 commandments. I do not think many people act responsible online because most people think that it's a free world online and think they can do what ever they want without getting into trouble. Not very many people follow the 10 digital responsibilities commandments. Out of the 10 commandments I created, the one I think is most important would be "You Shalt Not Cyberbully" because cyber bullying is a very serious issue and is the cause of many deaths from suicide and I think it is important for people to know the consequences of cyber bullying. I think the biggest issue around digital rights and responsibilities among young people would be, again the cyber bulling one because in today's society cyber bullying is a really big concern and it his happening all the time.

Journal #2: Digital Communication

Something I found most interesting about digital communication was how there was a lot more acronyms and abbreviations I did not know about, I will probably use a lot of them now that I know what they mean. A few things I learned from the email etiquette would be not to use all caps in emails because it seems like you are roaring at them and being rude. Another thing I learned is to always sign your name at the end of an email. Also I learned to make sure your attachments are put into the right format so people can open them. The BCC is a copy of an email message sent to recipient whose email address does not appear. It is best to use the Blind Carbon Copy feature when sending to a large group of people.  Out of all the information I read I think the most important thing for young people to consider when using digital communication would be to remember to use proper language when talking to proper important people and to use email correctly and politely. 

Acronyms Attack (Assignment Two)

1.) 3 more acronyms/abbreviations I could think of would me OMW which stands for On My Way, Fb which stands for Facebook and NTM which stands for Not Too Much.

2.) 4 places I would never use acronyms or abbreviations digitally would be, texting my mom or dad because usually they don't know what they stand for. Another place would be typing an essay for school because it is improper. Also through email because usually when I use email I am communicating with someone very proper or who wouldn't understand acronyms. I wouldn't use it in a resume for a job either.

Communication Compass (assignment 1)

1) Digital Communication is the physical transfer of data from a point to point or pint to multi-point communication channel.

- It is unreliable as messages sent cannot be recognized by signatures. Software is available for this, but it can easily be hacked.
- Many people misuse the efficiency of digital communication. The sending of hoax messages, the usage of people to harm society, etc to damage society as a whole.
- The establishment of Digital Communication causes degradation of the environment in some cases. Electronic waste is an example. The vibes given out by the telephone and cell phone towers are so strong that they can kill small birds. 
- Digital Communication has completely ignored the human touch. A personal touch cannot be established because all the computers will have the same font.

-It is comparatively cheaper and the work which requires a lot of people can be done simply by one person as folders and other such facilities can be maintained. 
-It is less expensive, more flexible and easy to manipulate
-In Digital Communication System, the error correction and detection techniques can be implemented easily.
-The messages can be stored in the device for longer times, without being damaged, unlike paper files that easily get damaged.
3) Three popular forms of Digital Communication include Email, High Definition Television and Cell phones. I believe these are all popular as they are extremely handy, easy to use and convenient. People can connect to others or obtain new information with just a click of a button; these up to date features allow their users to easily do as they may all on a TV or computer screen.
4) Three types of Digital Media that may not be around for much longer may include landlines for homes (from the replacement of portable cellphones), any type of social media website such as MySpace or Flickr (simply because they are being replaced by bigger and better social network sites), and Email, which is slowing down from chat-sites and texting.
5) Five locations where you should not be communicating digitally in my opinion include church, during class time, in a at work, at a funeral/ wake, at the dinner table or while driving. I think this because all of these places take a certain amount of respect to be given and communicating digitally would be disrespectful. Also is may be dangerous.
6) 2 dangerous situations in which you should never use digital communications include texting in a vehicle while driving, and using social network in a harmful way such as cyber-bullying, or spreading viruses. These bring danger to your personal life both physically and emotionally. Both can be avoided with using the technology at the right time and place.
7) I believe over time, kids will eventually find a healthy lifestyle with technology. It may seem hard to see right now, because the online world is growing, but I think kids will be intelligent with how much they use it. It will only be so long before they see how addicted they are to technology before they smarten up and do something productive with their life.
8) When a person is no longer able to update or keep in touch with their personal online communication, I think there must be something on their will that lets them choose what they want to happen to the account. If I were going to die I would want my account deactivated completely due to the fact it could be hacked, or simply because there is no one alive to update that personal profile anymore. A solution to this growing problem would be to make every person with an online profile and write what they want to do with it before they die on their will. 

Journal #1: Digital Security

Something I found most surprising about digital security and creating passwords was that you have to make your password a full sentence in order for it to be the best and strong. Something I found confusing or difficult about thus section was how they added symbols in their password to make it best because I find it was confusing and would be very hard to remember. Based on the information in this section I think my passwords are sort of weak. I think I may change them when I get home because I didn't realize how easy it is to guess them. I think the most important thing to remember when considering passwords and digital security is to make it long and memorable.

- I think most of the worst passwords listed would be easy to guess except a few of them like, "qwerty" and "adobe123" because they are something I'd never think of.

- Yes I have used a couple of these passwords such as "password" "123456" and "abc123" I feel as though I shouldn't have used those passwords because I didn't really think people would guess them or even try to, but they are no longer my passwords.
3.Do you think seniors and adults are more likely to use these passwords? What can we do to save them some disastrous consequences if they do?
- No I do not think that seniors and adults use these kind of passwords because I think they take hacking into consideration and make their passwords strong. We can inform them about hacking and how people know that they're easy to guess, to save them from disastrous consequences if they do.
4.Can you think of three extra horrible passwords not found on this list?
- 3 other bad passwords would be a persons name, their animals name or even numbers such as: "2468"
5.How long should a modern password be to be called strong?
- A modern password to be called strong would have to require not only one word, a full sentence.

Apps on Google

The 2 new apps i added to google was Pixlr Editor and 3D View. Pixlr Editor is very popular and most advanced photo editer online. It contains a lot of features that you normally find in desktop graphic design applications. No account necessary just go into google and click on it and you can use it for free. It provides many tools like layers, lasso tool, brush control, cloning and filters. There is an optional private library where you can store all your images.  I used it before to photoshop images and I liked it a lot. I added this app because I feel it will come in handy for photo editing and future projects we will be doing in this class.

 The other app I tried out was 3D View. It allows viewing, quality inspection, measuring, repairing, searching online and sharing 3D files. I downloaded it because it looked pretty cool and easy and fun to use. Hopefully it will come in handy in the future.
